Professional Organizations & Resources

Professional organizations and resources exist at both the university and national level.  Advisors are encouraged to take advantage of these resources in order to enhance their professional development, gain knowledge about innovative advising practices, and boost a sense of community among advisors.

University Professional Advising Council (UPAC)

UPAC, the UA's campus-wide advising organization, serves all UA advisors and student services professionals. UPAC provides professional development opportunities and updates on the latest information about policy and services on campus. All advisors are encouraged to attend UPAC's monthly meetings and to join the UPAC listserv. Meeting notes are available online.

University Academic Advising Council (UAAC)

Each college appoints a UAAC representative who, along with an ASUA student representative and the Director of the Advising Resource Center, meet regularly to consider all issues relevant to academic advising. In addition, the charge of UAAC is to guide the implementation of the recommendations brought forward by the Academic Advising Task Force. The UAAC meeting notes are available through web authorization.
