A minor in Mining and Geological Engineering offers students in engineering, science and other technical majors a broad understanding of the mining industry. Students in the mining engineering minor will be trained in a wide variety of topics such as sustainable resource development, materials handling, mine health and safety, minerals discovery and processing, mine reclamation and environmental protection. 

Minor Requirements:

18 units are required at a minimum 2.0 GPA.
9 upper division units are required and 3 units are required in residence at The University of Arizona.
Courses available:
MNE 205, MNE 210, MNE 296A, MNE 407, MNE 411, MNE 422, MNE 426, and MNE 441

Declaring the Minor

  1. Complete the Declaration of a Minor Form. Form is available at the Office of Academic Affairs, Engineering Building, Room 200
  2. Set up an appointment to talk with the faculty minor advisor about any questions you may have or to discuss which classes to take - Mines Building, Room 229

Additional Information

Students will have the choice of other mining topics provided prerequisites are satisfied.
